Phishing Emails
Phishing emails are a common form of cyberattack where bad actors pretend to be someone you know and trust, such as a bank or a client of yours. The goal is to obtain private information like passwords, credit card numbers, and personal identification details. These emails often mimic the style and tone of who they are pretending to be. Once a victim clicks on a malicious link or downloads an infected attachment, they may unknowingly give hackers access to their personal accounts or even their entire network.
The consequences can be severe, ranging from financial loss and identity theft to widespread data breaches in businesses. Because of their deceptive nature and potential for harm, it is crucial to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of any unexpected or suspicious emails.
At GVA, we have a method to report dangerous phishing emails. In your Outlook ribbon, there is a button labeled “Report”. You can use this button to report either a Phishing email or a Junk email you receive. This will send a report to our email servers so they can better classify messages in the future.
If you do not see this button, reach out to our Technology Partner Razor Technology at support@razor-tech.com and they can help put that button back for you.
As always, reach out to GVA Tech with any questions at techsupport@greatvalleyadvisors.com
